Age Without Limits Action Day

The Action Day is a chance for everyone to do something to change the way we all think and act about age and ageing.

It’s an annual day for individuals and communities, workplaces, friends and families to learn, take action and change the way we think about ageing.

What's the Action Day about?

Every year the Action Day has a theme. In 2024 this was See and Be Seen.

This was all about challenging the often narrow, negative and stereotypical way that older people and ageing is portrayed in our society. We have a fantastic image library which showcases the huge diversity that exists in ageing. After all, you cannot be what you cannot see.

We will update this page in due course with the theme for our June 2025 Action Day, and the activities taking place.

2024 Action Day

To celebrate our first Age Without Limits Action Day on 20th March 2024, we hosted an exhibition of photography in central London  that celebrated the huge diversity across ages and showed there is no one way to grow old.

We were absolutely delighted that so many people and community groups across the country took part.  More than 60 fantastic events, across the UK, marked and interpreted the theme of See and Be Seen in a variety of ways. These inspiring events helped to change the way we all think, feel and act about ageing and included:

  • An intergenerational Hip Hop event in Liverpool City Region
  • An over 50s archery competition in Belfast
  • An intergenerational podcast and poem workshop in Brighton
  • An over 50s music ensemble and performance in Plymouth
  • A monologue performance with scripts about ageism in Bolton
  • A self-portrait exhibition in Haringey, London, an intergenerational talent show in Doncaster
  • An intergenerational skill sharing workshop in Newcastle.
