Age UK County Durham and Adventure Access: Celebrate Ageing, Challenge Ageism

Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Lane, Old Elvet, Durham, DH1 3JU

Age UK Co Durham working in partnership with Adventure Access will be hosting canoeing and paddleboard sessions on the River Wear in Durham City to Celebrate Ageing and Challenge Ageism on Wednesday 11 June. The two sessions will run from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm, and from 13:00 pm until 14:30 pm.

Sessions are open to all adults aged 50yrs+ living or working in County Durham. 

Delivered by fully qualified instructors the sessions are suitable for all abilities. Instructors will work closely with individuals who are not particularly water confident.

Search - Services for Older People: Celebrating Ageing and Challenging Ageism

Search and other age friendly organisations will be Celebrating Ageing and Challenging Ageism in Newcastle’s City Library on June 11th between 10.30am and 2pm.

Join us for a fun filled day with an upbeat singing session and use your creativity to create age positive messages on placards and banners, led by artist Sharon Bailey, and follow us on our parade showcasing age positivity and challenging ageism.

Elders Council of Newcastle: Celebrate Ageing, Challenge Ageism

Innovation Hub, One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4TD

At our 'Celebrate Ageing. Challenge Ageism' event, older people will work with artist/photographer Sharon Bailey to create images of how they see themselves and how they think others see them.

No special skills needed, just a willingness to take part.

We will have fun and enjoy lots of conversations about our experiences of ageing and what we can do to address ageism in our lives.
