Age UK South Gloucestershire is holding a series of photo exhibitions celebrating the achievements and talents of local older people, entitled “Celebrate Age: Challenge Ageism from the 9th to the 14th June in a variety of locations across South Gloucestershire.
The exhibition will share portraits and stories of local people who are challenging perceptions of age and ageing.

These intergenerational events will bring older and younger people together through shared interests and activities.
A crafting session will encourage skill-sharing between older and younger adults, while a baking session will see older adults and toddlers making biscuits together, supported by a trained early years worker.
These activities celebrate ageing, foster connection, and challenge ageist stereotypes by demonstrating the value of intergenerational relationships.

Ewhurst & Staplecross Village Hall: Breaking Down Age Barriers

We plan to run an Age Without Limits Day involving children from the local primary school and older residents of the village.
This has never been run before and the aim is to have fun as well as promote inter-generational conversations. The aim is to challenge negative stereotypes of older people. The activity will comprise of 2 components.
Firstly, that of a ‘gallery’ of photographs of those older residents of the village depicting them as children/teenagers. The children attending the activity will then have to ‘match’ the person with their photograph. The second component is that of inter-generational balloon modelling workshop.
This workshop would introduce a skill that transcends all generations and brings different generations together to have fun and learn a new skill together.

Watford FC’s Community Sport and Education Trust invite everyone to join it for an extended Extra Time session. Across two hours, at the Meriden Community Centre, those aged 55 and over will have the chance to meet others and get involved in a range of activities including walking football, physical exercise and bowls.
There will also be the chance to find out more about other activities in the local area.

Age Friendly Hertfordshire will create a powerful video montage showcasing local older people in diverse roles contributing to communities, from volunteering to having fun in creative ways.
The film will highlight and debunk negative stereotypes, celebrating the many ways people continue to contribute, thrive, and stay independent as they age. Shared widely online and in public spaces, this video will inspire and promote positive attitudes towards ageing across Hertfordshire.

Generation Circus is redefining what circus can be with Will You Still Love Me? - a groundbreaking circus show performed by CAN DO CIRCUS COMPANY - a fearless group of over-50s who took their first leap into circus arts in April 2024.
Through aerial theatre, dance, animation, and video installations, they challenge stereotypes and bring to life powerful personal stories about ageing, resilience, and community.
The Nechells POD intergenerational community picnic and storytelling session celebrates Age Without Limits Day by bringing together people of all ages to enjoy a shared picnic.
Older participants will share stories about their experiences of aging in Nechells, fostering connection and understanding between generations.
The event also features a collaborative footprint craft and a community consultation, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard while promoting inclusion, celebrating aging, and challenging ageist stereotypes.
A collection of stories and achievements from the lives of older people in the community of Farsley and Calverley.
Videos, portraits and written accounts make up a collage celebrating a generation that has seen and done more than you know.
