Within the theme of belonging and using creative, reflective writing, we’ll celebrate ageing as a life-long process rather than later life as a time of frailty and decline.
In celebrating the value of life experience and the perspective that this brings, we’ll bring generations together to explore different subcultures and forms of self-expression over the decades.

The Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust (BWCCT): Exhibition
11/06/25
The Phoenix Centre, Phoenix Way, Windermere, LA23 1BZ
The Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust is delivering a innovative project which will celebrate Age Without Limits Day. Pupils from some of the local schools have been interviewing local retirees about their lives and proudest moments. These words will be illustrated by Alex Kirkpatrick , an artist who will creatively put them into a six frame style story board and the finished pieces will be exhibited in Slate Cafe Windermere for all to see and admire. The art work will be displayed for three weeks.
We are grateful to those participating, Alex Kirkpatrick, Slate Cafe and the grant we have received from yourselves to enable us to deliver this project.
It will be fun day which will allow women to express themselves, releasing any inner anger they feel about how society perceives them as they grow older in a healthy, creatively contained way.
The event will highlight ageism and will challenge perceptions and attitudes towards older people.
We will do this by engaging in “angry craftivism,” by writing slogans on china teacups and creating a banner to exhibit, which will be held up with walking sticks.
The event will be filmed and women will be interviewed about ageism and how they feel about growing older.
Food and holistic therapies will also be available.
